Welcome to the Yachats Commons,
the community center in the heart of Yachats on the central Oregon coast

The building was built in the 1930s and was used as a school until 1983 when it closed. Many locals fondly remember their early school days here.

In 1990 the building was purchased by the City of Yachats to be used as a community center. It is now the heart and soul of the greater Yachats community, being host to such events as ballroom dances, our classes, political meetings, exercise classes, plays, musical productions, the youth center and much, much more.

Many private events such as wedding receptions, parties and reunions are also held here.
The large, old classrooms and white corridors have a comfortable, homey feeling and a large stage and gym (now multipurpose room). These are perfect for many activities.

The Yachats Commons is the focal point of meetings, conferences, and other art/music events in the greater Yachats area. Rooms are available for rent to individuals, groups, or organizations. We can host small groups or large events of several hundred. The Yachats Commons is the site of family reunions, receptions, organization and civic meetings, conferences and other events.

A large playground, ballfield and picnic shelter are located behind the building, and exercise, theater and kitchen facilities are available on the premise. Lighting and sound equipment, as well as a very lovely grand piano are rentable for your events. Catering is available, and lodging and restaurants are conveniently close by.

The Yachats Farmer's Market is held at the Commons every Sunday May through October. The market is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
